Mwana Group Private Limited Company stole the limelight during the Harare Metropolitan Province Small and Medium Enterprise Development (SMED) graduation ceremony held at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) recently.
Dr Kuda Mutenda, the founder and Managing Director of the company which is in car filter manufacturing in Zimbabwe has a vast experience in international motor industry in which he was the regional manager of 48 countries before starting his own company.
Equipped with international experience in the motoring industry in various levels such as quality, recycle and insurance, Dr Mutenda realised that he was doing wonders internationally and nothing for his country. This realisation made him to come back home and set up a car filter plant in Southerton, Harare; which has created local employment and brings revenue to the country through exports.
Mwana Group, the first indigenous owned company in car filter manufacturing specialise in manufacturing filters, that is fuel, oil and air filters, as well as air dryers for all vehicle categories.
“Made in Zimbabwe, by Zimbabweans, for Africa and Beyond”, the mantra of the company enthralled Vice President C Chiwenga who was the guest of honor at the graduation and he applauded such a vision which he stated complemented the ruling party mantra, ‘nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’ (a nation is built by its citizens).
The graduation event saw several companies in Harare graduating from Small enterprises to Medium enterprise and some from Medium to Large enterprises. These enterprises fall under the Ministry of Women affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprise.
